When October Goes: A Spooky Recap

Is it really the end of the month?

Is it really the end of the month? October seems to have lasted a lifetime but before we move on to November, let’s reflect on some of the events that got the ANDERSON team fired up.

Billboard Music Awards

October brought us another award show and this time it was focused on music. The event had originally been postponed indefinitely but as safety protocols were put into place, the ceremony was back on. For the third year in a row, Kelly Clarkson returned to host the ceremony. The biggest winner of the night was Post Malone who took home nine awards including Top Artist & Top Male Artist. In addition, Garth Brooks was awarded the Icon Award and performed an eight-song medley featuring his greatest hits.

Presidential Debates

“Yikes” is all we have to say. If you were able to survive both of these, then kudos to you. In the end, make sure you have a plan to vote either on or before November 3rd.

Halloween

Team ANDERSON loves this time of year. In fact, we love it so much we are recommending some of our favorite Halloween/Scary movies (as if this year hasn’t been scary enough). Highly recommended: Scream, Hocus Pocus, Halloween, Donnie Darko, The Shining, Beetlejuice and The Silence of the Lambs.

Lakers Win

After months of being in a bubble, literally, the NBA season came to an end when the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat in Game Six of the 2020 Finals. The Lakers have now won a total of 17 NBA championships, tying the Boston Celtics for most all time. The win was especially sweet following the loss of Laker great Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi in a tragic plane crash earlier this year. According to CBS Sports, “They went out—with all the challenges inherent to any championship run—and won it for the late, great, deeply missed Black Mamba.

LIVE FROM NEW YORK…..IT’S SATURDAY NIGHT!

After much anticipation, Saturday Night Live made its triumphant return to live studio shows. In the past few weeks, we’ve seen huge celebrity hosts like Chris Rock, Bill Burr, Issa Rae and Adele as well as big musical stars like Megan Thee Stallion, Jack White, Justin Bieber, and H.E.R. There’s even been a live studio audience! It’s clear the folks over at 30 Rock have taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the cast, crew, and guests. To say we are excited that one of our favorite weekend shows is back on the air is an understatement! Laughter is the best medicine, right?

What’s To Come In November

Our guess: Who knows? Each month has had its ups and downs, but the one thing we can all look forward to is Thanksgiving and hopefully cooler weather! See you next month when we offer a pop culture recap of all the things we are thankful for.
