Rest In Peace, Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, died at Balmoral at the age of 96 after reigning for 70 years. In the United Kingdom, once someone in the monarchy passes, the country enters into 10 days of mourning which is also referred to as “Operation London Bridge.” Over those ten days, some notable things happened: A memorial service at St. Paul’s Cathedral was open to the public; “God Save the King” was sung for the first time to reflect that King Charles III is now the official British monarch, and citizens/visitors of the United Kingdom lined up to see the Queen lying in state at Westminister Hall. A public funeral was broadcast across the world on Monday, September 19, which was the second most-watched of the 21st century and the third-most-watched royal event in British history.
