Trailing for most of the game, Phoenix leveled the score in the final minutes of regulation, leading to a 1-1 tie. A penalty shootout ultimately decided the match, where Phoenix prevailed 3-2. Manuel Arteaga’s decisive penalty kick and a crucial miss by Charleston’s Derek Dodson secured the Rising’s triumph. This marked Phoenix’s third appearance in the USL Championship Final, having previously won the Western Conference in 2018 and 2020, and their triumphant journey included defeating top-seeded teams throughout the playoffs.
