Britney Spears x Elton John

Since becoming a free woman from her conservatorship last November, Britney Spears released new music for the first time in six years. The artist collaborated with another legend in the industry, Elton John, on a remix of John’s “Tiny Dancer.” The remixed version of the song “Hold Me Closer” was released on Friday, August 26th, and is available on all streaming platforms.

House of the Dragon

Game of Thrones fans united as HBO’s newest series in the kingdom of Westeros premiered recently. House of the Dragon serves as a prequel to Game of Thrones and portrays the beginning of the end of House Targaryen and the Targaryen War of Succession. A day after the premiere, the first episode was viewed by over 10 million people in the U.S. making it the network’s largest single-day viewership for a series debut.

Raid at Mar-a-Lago

Former President Trump said that on Monday, August 8th, the FBI “raided” his home at Mar-a-Lago after a search warrant was granted by the Department of Justice due to classified information being taken from the White House to his Palm Beach resort in January 2021. Based on findings, there were 20 boxes worth of material where the FBI took 11 sets of classified files in total, including four that were labeled “Top Secret.” Three sets were classified as “Secret Documents” and three were “Confidential”. Right now, the former president has not been charged with any wrongdoing.

Renaissance

Bey is back with the release of her seventh studio album, Renaissance, on July 29th. The album serves as the first installment of a trilogy project with the remaining two projects still unannounced. Beyoncé made the album as a reflection of her state of mind during the pandemic and is considered an upbeat record blending post-’70s black dance music styles such as disco and house. The album explored themes of escapism, self-assurance and expression, and pleasure. Renaissance received acclaim from music critics and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 along with its lead single “Break My Soul” reaching No. 1 on the Hot 100.
