2022 Golden Globes
Apparently, the Golden Globes happened on Sunday, January 9, but no one knew because no network broadcasted the ceremony due to a lack of diversity from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Even without a show, the ceremony was held privately. Netflix’s The Power of the Dog tied with Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, and HBO’s drama Succession, for the most awards of the night (three each). These included the awards for Best Drama Film, Best Musical or Comedy Film, and Best Drama Series respectively. Click here to see all of the winners from the night.
RIP Betty White and Bob Saget
America lost two TV family members this past week: Betty White, TV’s Grandma, from shows such as The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Golden Girls; and Bob Saget, America’s TV Father Figure, from Full House. We will always remember them and their contributions to the world and thank them for making us laugh.
Scream
Fans of the horror franchise rejoiced as the latest installment was released into theatres on January 14. This is the fifth installment in the Scream film series but was billed as a relaunch of the film series, making it a “requel” (reboot-sequel). Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette who have been with the series since the first film was released in 1996 returned with a whole new cast. Critics praised the film for honoring late creator Wes Craven’s legacy and some called it the best sequel in the series.
Wordle
Wordle has been around for a few months but has taken the online world by storm over the past month. This daily world game can be found online and is similar to a crossword in that it can only be played once per day, and every 24 hours there is a new word users must figure out.
