Desert Financial is the Official Banking Partner of the Arizona Cardinals, and they offer three exclusive Cardinals-branded debit cards to members. Each football season, Desert Financial develops a new campaign to promote the cards. In 2024, they upped their game by introducing a sweepstakes and teamed up with ANDERSON to create promotional materials.
The sweepstakes was open to both members and non-members of Desert Financial. The goal was to increase the visibility of Desert Financial as the Official Banking Partner of the Cardinals and generate entries for a chance to win an amazing prize package:
- Four tickets to a Cardinals game in Los Angeles
- Hotel accommodations
- 2-day theme park passes
- $2,000 Visa gift card

This project was particularly exciting for Desert Financial because it was their first-ever sweepstakes. Working with the client, we quickly determined that a video-first strategy would most effectively capture the excitement of the promotion. The goal was to create a video that would inform and inspire potential participants to engage with Desert Financial and the Arizona Cardinals. By promoting this as a unique cobranded experience, we created a way to dynamically connect with fans and showcase this one-of-a-kind collaboration between the financial institution and the NFL team.
CONCEPTING
We knew a compelling visual story would be key to driving entries, so we began by developing multiple concept mood boards for consideration. During this process, we challenged ourselves to generate entirely unconventional ideas for financial institutions, and given Desert Financial’s preference for motion graphics over live-action footage, we created a range of dynamic animated concepts.
Realizing the importance of a visual style with real stopping power, the client chose a concept that resonated with their brand identity and promised to powerfully communicate their message in an attention-grabbing, surrealistic way. Then, our talented in-house art and motion graphics teams brought the concept to life.
VIDEO PRODUCTION
ANDERSON’s in-house art and graphics team brought the Bird Gang Getaway Sweepstakes to life with a visually stunning, custom-designed video. We used a unique scrapbook-style animation to tell the story of how to enter the sweepstakes, consistently keeping viewers engaged with a variety of visual elements and asset types.
Because pacing was critical to generating excitement, the team chose an unconventional frame rate of 12 frames per second to emphasize the eccentric, scrapbook-like aesthetic. This decision accentuated each individual graphic and enhanced the video’s distinctive look. The visual narrative incorporated an intentionally chaotic yet cohesive mix of elements, including live-action photography, stock images, game footage, flat art, and other design assets. Our team meticulously designed every element from scratch, including a sweepstakes logo and an array of graphics representing the prize package and football theme. Finally, we intricately layered each one—even incorporating some hidden “Easter eggs” for fun—to create a mesmerizing visual story.
The video’s high-energy music and announcer-style voiceover further emphasized the excitement of winning a suite of prizes, helping to ensure viewers would be motivated to visit the unique URL to enter the sweepstakes.
ADDITIONAL PROMOTIONAL ELEMENTS
To amplify the Bird Gang Getaway Sweepstakes, ANDERSON expanded the campaign’s reach through strategic Out of Home billboards and targeted digital media placements. These additional promotional elements worked in concert with the video, creating a comprehensive and immersive marketing approach that increased visibility and drove sweepstakes entries across multiple channels. The billboards and digital assets maintained the video’s dynamic, visually striking style, ensuring a consistent and memorable brand experience for potential participants.
