Time to Chill Out!

We can all get a little frustrated when things aren’t falling into place at work. And if you let it get too far into your head, de-stressing can be difficult.

Staying stressed isn’t good for anyone and can take a serious toll on your mental health. So, to try and avoid that, here are a few ways to help de-stress from your work day.

Take Breaks, You Deserve It

Sometimes it’s easy to get lost in work if you’re “in the zone” and sitting at your computer for hours on end. So, make it a habit of taking small breaks every 1–2 hours. Go for a walk, get a snack, sit on the couch, and clear your mind for 15 minutes.

Listen to Music

Find a playlist, or a few, to listen to while working. One should be calming music, filled with songs that will help take your mind off of your stressors. YouTube is filled with videos of calming, soothing images accompanied by relaxation music. Check out one of my favorites here. And if calm music doesn’t necessarily help you de-stress, maybe Lady Gaga will!

Try Meditating

Meditating is one of the best ways to clear your mind. When focusing for a long period of time on one thing that calms you, you are training your mind and body to be mentally clear and find an emotionally calm and stable state. If you’ve never meditated and think you might want to, check out this beginner’s guide on How To Meditate.

Log Off Physically and Mentally

For those working from home, this may seem more difficult if you’re moving from the table to the couch, instead of packing up and driving home. But bringing stress and problems from your workday into your personal life is a sure way to stay stressed. When you log off for the day, make sure you turn off your work brain and use your time to be fully engaged with your loved ones (dogs) and take care of yourself!
