The Most Effective Ways to Recharge Your Creativity

After a long day of client meetings, complicated problems and stressful deadlines everyone needs a few minutes to unwind.

After a long day of client meetings, complicated problems and stressful deadlines everyone needs a few minutes to unwind. Here at Anderson, we know that all work and no play makes for some unimaginative work. We even dedicate an hour a day to doing something that will help our brains switch out of overdrive and into productiveness. In honor of National Goof Off Day, we wanted to share a few of the ways that we de-stress around the office.

There’s the obvious

Ping Pong

If you’re not afraid of a little friendly competition this is one of the most effective ways to get rid of any pent up frustration (or grudges) we might be harboring.

Foosball

Play a Game

This table is almost as exciting as the Ping Pong table, but you don’t have to chase the ball all over the office if your skills need work.

Take a walk around the office

Take a Walk

Dustin has been known to rally everyone in the office to take a few laps around the inside of our office and when the weather is nice many of the ANDERSONIANS like to take a stroll down to the the nearest grocery store for lunch.

Talk about latest TV Shows

Here are just a few of our favorites:

  • Stranger Things
  • Gilmore Girls
  • Iron Fist

Grab a snack

There’s never a shortage of snacks that pair brilliantly with beer in our office, but the Pub Mix never seems to last. It’s no secret around our office that when you are hungry you aren’t going to do your best work. So taking a few minutes to grab a granola bar will help us.

And the not so

Daydream

Daydream

Not all of our goofing off is unproductive, goofing off could actually be helping us solve our most difficult problems. The brain areas that allow people to solve complex problems become more active during daydreaming.

The ladies of ANDERSON need no excuse to chat about the sale that’s happening on their favorite online store or the exact outfit they are on the hunt for. You’ll often find a few of the ladies huddled up discussing their next transaction.

Grab Coffee

Just a few minutes outside of your zone can help you reset. Taking a trip to the grocery store or the nearest coffee shop can help you return to the task at hand with a new perspective… not to mention the extra caffeine will help you stay awake.

Do a Little Dance

While this is the least common of all of our goofing off it’s undeniably the most effective. While it’s a great way to get moving for the person dancing it also inspires a light heartedness with the rest of the office.
The next time you’re stuck in a rut and need a little inspiration do yourself a favor, grab a snack, let your mind wander or throw on your dancing shoes.
