Our Resident World Traveler’s Guide to Inspiring Instagram Accounts
By: John Tucker
We all have those days. You know the ones I’m talking about– you can’t focus, you get sidetracked at every turn, and nothing you do seems to come out the way you wanted it to. On days like that, I try to do something that inspires me to get me out of my creative rut.
One of the things that inspires me is thinking about travelling. I dream about adding to the list of 40 countries that I’ve visited across the globe.
Browsing through my favorite Instagrams always puts me in a more inspired, positive mood. Plus, this counts as influencer or competitor research, right?
Here are a few of the travel Instagram accounts that I find most inspiring:
Ben Schlappig is a credit card/travel points blogger. He travels the world in first class and stays in high-end hotels using mostly points that he earns from his credit card spend.
His Instagram account is a testament to his lavish traveling ways and is one of the reasons why I’m always looking for flights. His accompanying blog details how he booked his travel with points and he gives several tips on how his readers can do the same. I obsessively read his blog and his words of wisdom have helped me in my own adventures!
In Italy, there’s only one proper way to eat a delicious serving of gelato—by “cheers-ing” cones first! These fresh scoops from Venchi Cioccolato have us ready to hop on a flight to Italy—hopefully we’ll make it just in time for dessert. AFAR is one of my favorite travel magazines. It always features interesting and up and coming travel destinations with helpful guides of what to see, do and eat. The pictures featured on their Instagram are beautifully curated and will give anyone wanderlust who looks at them.
Lidia Bastianich is like the Italian grandmother I never had. She has a show on PBS where she cooks beautifully simple Italian dishes. On her Instagram she shares pictures of her travels and the food she makes. Sometimes she even includes a recipe or two!
#ad just because they need to be tough 👊🏻 who says door mats can’t be pretty too? This Hagl Silver beauty from Norwegian @heymat.no is perfect besides my balcony door and it’s machine washable – love that! I don’t know if my pale skin, blonde hair or blue eyes have anything to do with it, but Scandinavian design really speaks to me. This Instagram showcases the beauty and simplicity of Scandinavian design. It is also one of the reasons why I visit IKEA on a regular basis.

This Instagram account always brightens up my feed. Marko Morciano, an Italian designer from Rome, brings the color yellow to life in so many interesting and different ways. His pictures are super simple and they always make me stop and appreciate the beauty of simplicity. Who knew a single color could be used in so many different ways?
Space Invader is one of my favorite street artists. His pixelated creations are all unique and different and his Instagram account gives us a little peak into this mysterious artist’s work.
The next time you are hung up on your daily tasks, take a few minutes to get a little inspiration from these amazing Instagram accounts.
